Local Flood Risk Management Strategy
10
Local Flood Risk Management Strategy for the period 2026 to 2041 can be found at https://rbwmtogether.rbwm.gov.uk/flood-risk-management-strategy
As a Lead Local Flood Authority, the Royal Borough has a duty to develop, maintain, apply and monitor a strategy for local flood risk management. We published the current Local Flood Risk Management Strategy in 2014, and since then there have been significant changes, driven by both national and local policy, as well as the growing threat of climate change. This means that an update is now required.
We have developed a new draft Local Flood Risk Management Strategy for the period 2026 to 2041, setting out a long-term vision for managing flood risk over the next 15 years. The draft strategy includes measures to ensure that its objectives and actions remain relevant throughout its lifespan.
We are now seeking views on this draft Local Flood Risk Management Strategy and invite residents and interested stakeholders to respond to this consultation.
The Flood Risk Team will be running drop-in events during the consultation period at the following locations:
- Monday 22nd June – 1pm to 4pm at Windsor Library
- Thursday 25th June - 3.30pm to 6.30pm at Ascot Durning Library
- Thursday 2nd July - 3.30pm-6.30pm at Maidenhead Library
The consultation will be open for six weeks and will close at midnight on Sunday 12 July 2026. If you need help accessing or completing the online survey, you can request assistance at one of our libraries.

Flood Warnings
09
Please see below update from Met Office and EA, following a multi-agency coordination meeting today (09/02/26).
Quick Links
Headlines
- Berkshire experienced 91% of February’s rainfall in the first 8 days
- River levels are high; ground is saturated and responsive, and the groundwater levels are rising
- Rain is expected throughout the week, although gaps in between rainfall should allow for a more positive situation
- No more flood warnings are expected, although this is being closely monitored.
Met Office
Much of today will be fine and mainly dry, however, a band of rain will spread bring isolated showers, mostly felt in West Berkshire. With the ground already saturated, this could lead to surface flooding impacts.
Tomorrow: further bands of rain or showers are expected during the afternoon and evening, continuing into Wednesday. A drier spell of weather is possible on Wednesday afternoon.
Thursday and Friday will see further showers, isolated heavy, but not currently looking as widespread as we have seen.
Into the weekend: Saturday is looking to be dry weather with lengthy sunny spells, but it does currently look like unsettled conditions will return on Sunday or Monday.
Environment Agency
Flood Warning currently in place on River Kennet at Calcot, although hoping to be removed tomorrow as levels have peaked and are now falling.
Flood Warning currently in place on River Thames at Shiplake, levels have peaked, although could rise over the next few days.
There are 33 Fluvial flood alerts in the Thames Valley, which are expecting to stay for a while as the rate of fall will be slow.
The Jubilee is currently operating at 70 cumecs
Current models for River Thames suggest that levels are high at the top end but is starting to stabilise and fall. As the water moves downstream levels will slowly rise until Wednesday, and from Henley downwards levels may rise slowly before stabilising at the end of the week.
Further information will only be provided if the situation is forecast or deteriorates.
